Located in the Northwest Territories, Great Slave Lake is the second-largest lake entirely within Canadian borders, the tenth-largest in the world, and North America’s deepest lake. It spans an immense sub-Arctic landscape ranging from forested western shores to the stark, dramatic granite cliffs of the Canadian Shield on its eastern arms. Because of its massive scale, the lake features distinct ecological zones: shallow, weedy archipelagos ideal for world-class trophy Northern Pike (such as the sprawling North Arm), alongside ultra-clear, cold, deep-water basins like Christie Bay that harbor giant Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling.
