Cabin #14 - Saraana West Bay(Gouin Réservoir)

Cabin #14 sits in the western reaches of the Gouin Réservoir in Quebec, tucked into the secluded Saraana West Bay sector that Air Tamarac operates. Access is strictly by floatplane – a quick 15-minute hop from the outfitter's Clova base, or a longer 60-minute flight if you choose to depart from Ste-Anne-du-Lac. The West Bay sector is one of five distinct fishing zones the outfitter maintains on Gouin, and cabins here are spaced so that no more than two sit side-by-side, guaranteeing genuine isolation and easy access to prime water right off the dock. The reservoir is famous among Quebec anglers for its walleye and trophy pike, and the West Bay water offers a mix of structure and depth that keeps walleye biting all season, while the shoulder seasons produce the reservoir's legendary 'freshwater shark' pike. Gouin is managed as a Community Wildlife Area with daily limits of 8 walleye and 10 pike, a protected walleye slot of 13 to 18.5 inches, and anglers are encouraged to practice catch-and-release, especially for pike between 20 and 28 inches. Cabins on this stretch of Gouin range from cozy two-to-four person units with a single closed bedroom and an adjacent shower cubicle, up to larger eight-person cabins with three closed bedrooms and an indoor shower; groups can also book two adjoining cabins for extra capacity. Every cabin comes with running water and hot showers, a wood stove for heat, propane-powered lighting, stove, refrigerator and freezer (larger cabins have two fridges), a fully equipped kitchen, a screened and illuminated fish house with running water, an outdoor BBQ, picnic table and campfire area, and outdoor dry toilets. Satellite communication is on hand for emergencies. Each camp is outfitted with Princecraft Yukon 15 aluminum boats powered by brand-new Mercury 15hp four-stroke outboards with electric start, making it simple to reach nearby honey holes. Groups of two share a boat, groups of three fish together, and a second boat can be added for $40/day; fuel is unlimited and included. This is a European Plan / housekeeping-style operation – anglers bring their own food, drinking water, bedding, and fishing tackle – but Air Tamarac will pre-deliver beer and drinking water to the cabin to help guests stay under the 110-lb baggage limit on the seaplane. Trips run in 3, 4, 5, or 7-day blocks with a non-refundable $300 per person deposit, and turnover days vary by cabin (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).
