Summarized Review Highlights

Guests overwhelmingly rate Langara Island Lodge as an outstanding, top-tier fishing destination. Nearly every review gives 5 out of 5 stars, and the one 4-star review still calls the stay first class. Many reviewers compare it favorably to other lodges they have visited. Several are repeat guests, including people on their 4th visit or 4th year in a row, and others say they plan to return. The lodge is described as a "bucket list" destination and as run like a "fine tuned machine," from the Vancouver transfers and helicopter flight in to departure.

Service and staff come up most often. Reviewers describe the lodge staff as friendly, attentive, and quick to handle special requests, and some compare them to a five-star hotel. Guides and boat captains are called knowledgeable, hard-working, and patient. Several reviewers say the guides are good teachers, and beginners say they were catching fish and limiting out within a day or two. Food is also praised in nearly every review, with gourmet multi-course dinners and plentiful lunches. Guests also mention the scenery and wildlife, the helicopter arrival, the spa and hot tub, the well-stocked cottages, and the boats, including private bathrooms on board. Many guests report strong catches of salmon, halibut, and ling cod, including limits.

Complaints are rare. The one lukewarm account describes cold, windy, rainy weather and fishing that was only average over 12-hour days. That guest still caught Chinook, ling cod, and halibut and called the rest of the trip first class. Practical tips from reviewers are to follow the packing list and dress for cold, wet conditions, to pack light because the lodge provides gear and has a store with thermals and layers, and that gourmet dinners do not come with a dress code. One guest advises confirming with your guide which fish will be kept before leaving the dock. Cell service is limited, which some guests saw as a plus. The lodge suits groups of friends, couples, families, and corporate or business groups, and first-time or inexperienced anglers who want patient instruction. It also suits experienced anglers who want a high-service, fully managed trip.

TripAdvisor
We were a group of four guys from the UK who stayed in Eagle Lodge. We booked through Chromer; pre-booking arrangements were flawless, and the transfers from Vancouver to Masset and on via helicopter were seamless. The lodge, hospitality, food and drink were really top notch. The guides are all very knowledgeable and go out of their way to deliver. We had Stu and Davey, great guys. (Stay: July 2016)

Langara Island Lodge experience from a woman's perspective.
There's nothing like the raw beauty of Langara Island Fishing Lodge. Very little cell service, no stress. The service is truly next level, the staff makes you feel like family, the meals are five-star multi-course, and the fishing guides are knowledgeable, patient and passionate. The massage at the spa was fantastic, and the store has good thermals and layers. I stayed in the Eagles lodge and it was very conveniently located. As a female I did not know if this would be my type of trip, but I am very glad I tried it. Will do again. (Stay: June 2025)
