Summarized Review Highlights

Hawk Air is a fly-in fishing outfitter based near Wawa, Ontario, with a strong reputation built on repeat customers and consistent fishing experiences. Reviewers reflect a high level of overall satisfaction, with one angler noting he has used Hawk Air eight or nine times and continues to recommend them. The general sentiment is that this is a reliable, well-run operation that delivers on its fishing promises across multiple species and seasons.

Guests consistently praise the variety of lakes on offer — including Anaharea, Dossier, Wejin, Goat, and others — and the ability to target different species such as northern pike, walleye, lake trout, and brook trout. The portage-connected lake systems are a notable feature, allowing anglers to fish multiple bodies of water in a single day. Walleye catches in the 20–30 inch range have been reported, and pike and lakers at ice-out in May receive particular enthusiasm. Reviewers also note that the outfitter regularly upgrades cabin facilities and motors, suggesting ongoing investment in the guest experience. Pricing has increased over time, which one long-time guest attributed to fuel costs for float plane operations, though this was mentioned as an observation rather than a serious complaint.

There are no recurring negative themes in these reviews — guests appear genuinely satisfied. The main practical considerations are weather-related: cold north winds and spring ice-out conditions require proper layering, and early-season trips in May mean cold temperatures even if fishing is excellent. This destination appears best suited for experienced or repeat fly-in anglers who enjoy species variety, multi-lake exploration, and self-guided remote fishing. Groups of friends or fishing buddies targeting trophy walleye and pike will likely find it a strong fit, and the flexibility of split-lake trips may appeal to anglers who want to mix species within a single outing.

Used Hawk Air 8 or 9 times – highly recommend
Ive used Hawk Air 8 or 9 times. I would recommend them. They offer alot of choices as far as fishing different lakes for different species. We used to go in the summer and do a split trip, 4 days for pike/walleye then to a different lake for brook trout. The last three times we went right at ice out in May to a pike/lake trout lake, kept our beer cold in the snow, but the fishing was awesome. I just recieved their brochure in the mail this past weekend. Their prices have gone up since I last used them, but Im sure it takes alot of fuel to run those planes around. If you have more specific questions about them let me know. Goat, Easey, Duffy, Mosambik, Wejin, Anaharea, Dossier. Alot of their lakes have a portage where you can motor to an area then walk thru the woods to another lake where they have more boats waiting. My favorites were Anaharea at ice out, lots of big northerns and lakers, and Dossier in the summer, tons of brookies there. Wejin has two lakes and a portage to a lake trout lake also, you can fish all three in the same day. The Hawk Air people make lots of improvements every year to their cabins, and update their motors quite often too. We usually drive up on a Friday and stay in Wawa at the Wawa Motor Inn. They have a bar and restaurant at the motel, then we drive the last 15-20 miles to hawk lake Saturday morning for the flight out.
