Nakina, Ontario
Outfitter operating three self-guided outpost camps for fishing and hunting in the boreal forests of northern Ontario.
Dusey River Adventures is an outfitter based out of Nakina, Ontario, offering remote wilderness fishing and hunting deep in the boreal forests of northern Ontario. The company operates three outpost camps: Dusey Lake Outpost, Tyler Lake Outpost, and Hanover Lake Outpost. Each camp is the sole cabin on its respective lake, providing exclusive water access to guests.
Two of the three camps — Dusey Lake and Tyler Lake — are fly-in destinations located approximately 70 air miles north of Nakina. Hanover Lake is the only drive-to camp, situated about 25 miles northwest of Nakina. All fly-in trips are handled through Nakina Air Service. The outfitter also offers moose hunting from its outposts and at Hanover, with a small number of outfitter tags issued annually for Wildlife Management Unit 17.
The outfitter's signature fishery is brook trout, which are accessible by portaging up or downstream along the Dusey River from the fly-in camps. Brook trout fishing at all outposts is strictly catch and release. In addition to brook trout, anglers can target walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, and whitefish on the main lakes. The adjacent lakes accessible from Hanover — Lucy Lake and Mills Lake — add splake, lake trout, and additional pike to the mix, while Hanover River and Lucy Creek provide further brook trout stream fishing.
The outfitter enforces a voluntary trophy rule that goes beyond provincial slot limits, asking guests to release walleye over 18 inches and pike over 27 inches in order to maintain the trophy-class fishery. All brook trout fishing across the outposts is strictly catch and release.
Each outpost camp is a self-guided, self-catered cabin with the group responsible for their own cooking and cleanup. The Dusey Lake cabin is 16 x 32 feet and accommodates up to 8 guests, with a covered deck, indoor bathroom with shower, pressurized hot and cold running water, and generator power. The Tyler Lake cabin is 20 x 36 feet with a covered porch and sleeps up to 10 guests. The Hanover Lake drive-to cabin is a 24 x 40 foot log cabin accommodating up to 12 guests, featuring a 12-foot covered porch, propane forced-air furnace, a modern kitchen with propane range and refrigerator, and generator power. All camps furnish sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels, along with boats equipped with four-stroke outboard motors, paddles, life jackets, and safety equipment. Prices include airfare (where applicable), all cabin amenities, and satellite SPOT-X communicator use for the week.
