Family-run outfitter operating six remote fly-in outpost camps on wilderness lakes near Sioux Lookout, northwestern Ontario.
Hidden Bay Lodge and Camps is a 100% family-owned and operated outfitter based near Sioux Lookout, Ontario. The Reinke Family has run the operation for over 50 years, offering self-guided fly-in fishing trips across six remote destination lakes in the wilderness of northwestern Ontario. The main lodge and seaplane base are situated on Abram Lake, approximately eight miles south of Sioux Lookout.
Guests typically spend their first night at the main lodge before being flown by floatplane to one of the six outpost lake cabins, where they fish independently for the duration of their stay. The six named outpost lakes are Armit, Gage, Blackstone, Highstone, Miniss, and Raggedwood, each offering a separate cabin and its own lake to fish. Many of these lakes are also connected to additional nearby lakes accessible without portaging.
Established: 1970
The primary target species across all six outpost lakes are walleye and northern pike. Walleye are present in numbers across the lake systems, which are part of the Vermilion River drainage flowing into Lac Seul. Northern pike are found throughout the warmer, shallower water and weed beds. Some lakes on the system also hold lake trout. Guests fish self-guided from rental boats, and the operation caters to both those seeking quantity and those targeting trophy-sized fish. Catch-and-release practices apply to certain size ranges of walleye, with slot limits in effect.
Each of the six outpost cabins is situated directly on the shore of its respective lake. Cabins range in capacity from 4 to 10 guests and vary from two to three bedrooms. All outpost cabins include hot and cold running water, an indoor flush toilet, a shower, a modern kitchen with a propane stove, solar-powered lights, and satellite internet and phone service. Some cabins feature wood stoves and open-air or screened decks. The all-inclusive package covers groceries, and guests work with lodge staff ahead of travel to finalize their food order.
