Family-run outfitter operating four fly-in fishing camps on remote lakes in northwestern Ontario, based out of Red Lake.
Jack Green's Fly-In Camps is a fly-in fishing outfitter based in Red Lake, Ontario, operating under the same ownership as Green Airways Ltd. The operation is run by Bob and Jack Green, whose family's air service roots go back to 1950, when G.H. Green founded Green Airways to provide air transportation to remote fishing destinations.
The outfitter operates four camps across northwestern Ontario: Poplar Grove Camp on Birch Lake, Birch Lake Outpost, Shabu Lake Outpost, and Haggart Lake Outpost, with a Trout Lake Lodge also listed among their destinations. None of the camps are road-accessible; all require floatplane transport from the Red Lake base.
Established: 1950
Anglers at Jack Green's camps can target walleye, northern pike, and lake trout, with the available species varying by destination. Birch Lake, at approximately 29,215 acres, offers walleye, northern pike, and lake trout across weed bays, reefs, boulder beds, and river mouths. Shabu Lake, roughly 45 air miles from Red Lake, covers close to 3,000 acres and is noted for walleye and northern pike fishing. Haggart Lake, located 52 miles west of Red Lake on the western boundary of Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, spans approximately 7,300 acres combined with Bulging Lake and is known for northern pike and lake trout.
Guests fish from 14-foot Lund boats equipped with 9.9 Evinrude motors, swivel seats, life vests, fish nets, paddles, and spare motors. Pre-mixed fuel is included in the package. Trips run Saturday to Saturday.
Accommodations consist of modern log cabins equipped with hot and cold running water, sinks, showers or outhouses (outhouses at Shabu and Haggart), firm twin beds with mattresses and pillows, fridges, stoves, propane lighting, BBQs, propane deep fryers, ice or propane freezers (varying by camp), and cooking utensils. Poplar Grove Camp on Birch Lake has a resident caretaker on-site, while remote outposts are self-guided housekeeping cabins. A mid-week camp check is conducted by the outfitter, weather permitting, and a satellite phone is provided at each camp for emergency contact with the Red Lake base. Guests are responsible for bringing their own food, beverages, bedding, and personal supplies, though a grocery service is available with advance notice.
