Temagami, Ontario
Float plane outfitter operating fly-in outpost camps on remote lakes in the Temagami region of Ontario.
Lakeland Airways is a float plane operation based in Temagami, Ontario, offering fly-in fishing, hunting, and canoe trips to outpost camps on remote lakes in the Temagami region. The company has been in business for over 60 years, flying anglers, hunters, and outdoor visitors to outpost camps throughout the area. In addition to outpost packages, the operation offers chartered flights, air taxi service, and scenic tours over Lake Temagami.
The airbase is located at 25 Lakeshore Drive in Temagami, and the company operates a de Havilland Beaver floatplane. Confirmed outpost camps include one on Chris Willis Lake and one on Aston Lake, both situated on remote lakes where each camp is the only one on the lake. Reservations are handled directly by the operator and require a written booking and a deposit in advance.
Anglers at Lakeland Airways outpost camps fish self-guided on remote lakes with no other camps on the water. Chris Willis Lake holds walleye (pickerel), northern pike, smallmouth bass, and brook trout, with portage access to the Lady Evelyn River where brook trout can be caught above Frank Falls. Aston Lake supports walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass. Combination fishing and moose hunting packages are also available on a seasonal basis, with moose hunting in October only.
Trips are self-guided and self-catered. Guests bring their own food, fishing gear, and sleeping bags, while the outfitter provides boats, motors, and fuel at the camp. The package is designed for parties of two to six people, and the remote, single-camp-per-lake format means anglers have the water largely to themselves.
Each outpost cabin is fully equipped for housekeeping-style stays. Camps include a propane refrigerator, propane stove, propane lights, cooking utensils, and a BBQ. Boats and motors with fuel are provided at the water's edge. Guests are responsible for bringing food and refreshments, sleeping bags, fishing gear, a first aid kit, and personal flotation devices for children. There are no meals provided and no on-site staff. The camps are rustic but functional, set up for independent parties.
