Family-run outfitter operating ten fly-in outpost camps on eight lakes in and around Wabakimi Provincial Park, northwestern Ontario.
Ogoki Frontier is a fly-in fishing and moose hunting outfitter based just south of Armstrong, Ontario, with over 30 years of operation in northwestern Ontario. The company is run by Paul and Judy Boucher and family, and operates ten deluxe outpost fishing camps across eight lakes in and around Wabakimi Provincial Park, including waters along the Ogoki River system, Ogoki Reservoir, and as far north as the Opichuan River system.
The base of operations is located at Mattice Lake, approximately four miles south of the town of Armstrong. In addition to fishing, the outfitter offers fly-in and drive-in moose hunting in the boreal forests north of Armstrong. The operation emphasizes self-guided, self-sufficient trips, with camps stocked and maintained to allow groups to fish independently.
Anglers at Ogoki Frontier outpost camps can target walleye, northern pike, lake trout, brook trout, and sturgeon depending on which lake they are assigned to. Walleye are the primary draw across most lakes, with fishing available in the Ogoki Reservoir, Whiteclay Lake, the Ogoki River, and the Mojokit Channel, among others. Northern pike are also prominent throughout the system, with trophy-sized fish reported regularly. Specific camps offer additional species: the Mojokit Lake outpost is noted for lake trout, and Whiteclay Lake holds populations of both trophy northern pike and sturgeon.
Fishing is self-guided from each outpost camp. Camps typically include Lund boats with outboard motors. Some locations offer access to additional portage lakes, allowing anglers to explore multiple connected bodies of water during a single stay.
Outpost camps are described as large, clean, and fully equipped for self-catering stays. Standard amenities across camps include hot and cold running water, showers, solar electricity, chest freezers, modern appliances, gas barbecues, all cooking and eating utensils, screened-in fish cleaning houses, wood walkways, four-star mattresses, screened-in porches or gazebos, and Motorola two-way radios. Unlimited gas and unlimited ice are included. Some camps are original hand-crafted log structures that have been updated over the years; others, such as the South camp, are newer constructions with features like cathedral ceilings. Camps accommodate groups ranging from two to twelve guests depending on location. Meals are self-catered; no hosted meal service is indicated.
