Nakina, Ontario
Fly-in outpost operator running a single log cabin on Mahamo Lake, north of Nakina, Ontario.
Waters North Outposts is a fly-in fishing outpost operation based out of Nakina, Ontario. The outfitter operates one outpost cabin situated on Mahamo Lake, an 11-mile long, 7-mile wide lake on the Canadian Shield. As the only cabin on the lake, guests have the entire body of water to themselves for the duration of their stay.
Trips run on a Monday-to-Monday schedule and are offered on a self-guided, housekeeping basis, meaning guests prepare their own meals and set their own pace on the water. The operation is accessible exclusively by float plane from Nakina, with no road access to the lake.
Mahamo Lake holds northern pike and walleye as its two primary species. With no other fishing parties on the water, anglers have uncontested access to the full extent of the lake, including its bays and shoreline structure. Fishing is entirely self-guided, and guests use the outfitter's fleet of 14-foot Lund boats powered by 8 HP motors, each fitted with swivel fishing seats and configured to accommodate two anglers per boat.
The outpost consists of a single log cabin with three bedrooms that sleeps up to eight guests. The cabin includes a full kitchen, a spacious dining room, a shower house, and a fish cleaning station. The operation runs on a housekeeping plan, so guests provide and prepare their own food. For emergency communication, an inReach satellite device is provided on site.
